- Privacy protection events (screenshot/recording attempts on protected screens)
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide and maintain our services
- Match you with other users on your sailing
- Send you notifications about matches and messages
- Improve and personalize your experience
- Ensure safety and prevent fraud
- Protect user privacy through screenshot/recording detection
- Comply with legal obligations
4. Sailing-Bounded Data
Your profile and interactions are tied to specific sailings. When a sailing ends (48 hours after the return date), chats become read-only. This design keeps your data sailing-bounded and protects your privacy.
5. Ephemeral Chat Photos
Photos shared in chat messages are ephemeral and automatically expire 24 hours after they are sent. This encourages in-the-moment sharing while protecting your privacy. Expired photos cannot be recovered and are permanently deleted from our servers.
6. Screenshot & Screen Recording Protection
To protect user privacy, Nautir implements screenshot and screen recording protection on sensitive screens (profiles, chats, matches).
On iOS
- Screenshots are detected and logged (screenshots themselves cannot be prevented on iOS)
- Screen recording triggers a blur overlay to obscure content
- Content is obscured in the app switcher
On Android
- Screenshots and screen recordings are blocked at the system level
We log privacy events (such as screenshot attempts) to detect patterns of abuse. Users who exhibit excessive screenshot or recording behavior may be flagged for review. These logs do not capture the actual screenshot content—only metadata about the event (screen visited, timestamp, device platform).
7. Optional Identity Verification
Nautir offers optional identity verification through our third-party verification partner. If you choose to verify:
- You will be asked to provide a photo of a government-issued ID and a selfie
- This data is processed by our verification partner to confirm your identity
- Nautir receives only the verification result (verified/not verified) and age confirmation
- We do not store your ID documents or biometric data
- Verification is entirely optional and you may use Nautir without verifying
8. Data Sharing
We may share your information with:
- Other users on your sailing (profile information only)
- Service providers who assist our operations (hosting, analytics, verification)
- Law enforcement when required by law
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
9. Data Security
We implement appropriate security measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and at rest, row-level security on database tables, and rate limiting to prevent abuse. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

You have the right to:

- Delete your account and data
- Opt out of marketing communications
- Request a copy of your data
11. Age Restriction
Nautir is for users 18 years and older only. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn we have collected personal information from someone under 18, we will delete it.
